Domaine Guerrin Mâcon-Vergisson Les Rochers 2019, Burgundy

Two contrasting vineyards produce a super white Burgundy with freshness and texture. Great value – we were so impressed when we tasted we bought all the remaining stocks.

Terra Vita Vinum Large Soif! Anjou Blanc 2019, Loire Valley
£16.95 per bottle inc VAT
A blend of chardonnay and chenin, packed with apple and citrus fruit and mouth-watering, juicy acidity. This wine is great fun and, as the name suggests, super refreshing. Yet its balance and concentration makes it ideal with food – prawns with chilli and garlic would make for a match made in heaven.

Rose
Domaine Saint Andre de Figuière Méditerranée Rosé 2019, Provence
£11.95 per bottle inc VAT
Perfect Provençal pink, the colour alone seems to transport one there – transform your home into the Cote d’Azur!

Reds
Chateau Preignes le Neuf Cuvee Garrigue 2018, Languedoc
£9.45 per bottle inc VAT
This domaine is now eco-certified to France’s highest rating. A great vintage, 2018, has given this blend of cabernet and grenache depth and ripe dark berry fruit.

Famille Gras Les Plans Vin de Pays de Vaucluse 2017, Rhone Valley
£10.95 per bottle inc VAT
Always my go to bottle for a midweek supper – really delicious wine with pure blackberry fruit and surprising depth at a great price

Château Grand Verdus 2018, Bordeaux Superior
£11.45 per bottle inc VAT
Classic Bordeaux from a high quality, ripe year. Lots of youthful blackcurrant fruit and fine, ripe tannins.

Domaine Saint Andre de Figuière Méditerranée Rouge 2019, Provence
£11.95 per bottle inc VAT
Ripe, sunny fruit in this easy drinking, pleasure filled red.

Château de la Bonneliere Chinon Les Galets 2018, Loire Valley
£13.95 per bottle inc VAT
There’s no mistaking this as Chinon, but a vineyard close to the river gives ripe fruit and soft tannins which makes this ideal for drinking young. Shows that beautiful herbaceous freshness Cabernet franc lovers adore.

Terra Vita Vinum Les Châteliers Anjou Gamay 2018, Loire Valley
£15.95 per bottle inc VAT
100% gamay, grown organically, gives a different profile here than in Beaujolais. This is meatier and darker, suitable for richer autumn foods, but still very easy to drink. This would be perfect with a cassoulet or bean stew – something rich and warming for a cold night.

Château Langlet Graves Rouge 2016, Bordeaux
£15.95 per bottle inc VAT
This tiny estate clearly shows the quality of cabernet grown on gravel soils– think cool black currant fruit with notes of leaf, cedar wood and fine, precise tannins.

Domaine Jean-Paul Brun Beaujolais l’Ancien 2018, Beaujolais
£16.95 per bottle inc VAT
Jean-Paul’s l’Ancien is an absolute classic – old vines on top quality soil give a wine with flavours of raspberry and rose petals and a fleshy yet fine and refreshing palate. Great value.

Domaine Michel Caillot Bourgogne Rouge 2015, Burgundy
£16.95 per bottle inc VAT
2015 was a great vintage for Bourgogne Rouge and this shows lovely crunchy pinot fruit around a good ripe core. Super drinking now, best with charcuterie or pate, this is a traditional wine, with savoury flavours and not too much polish.

Whites
Domaine Daniel Reverdy & Fils Sancerre 2017, Loire Valley
£15.95 per bottle inc VAT (Was £19.95 per bottle)
Textbook Sancerre with succulent fruit and a stony, mineral heart. These wines work so well with goats cheese, chavignol is perfect if you can find it. Grilled or simply crumbled over a salad – a perfect light lunch for chasing away winter blues.

Domaine Sylvain Langoureau St Aubin 2017, Burgundy
£19.30 per bottle inc VAT (Was £23.45 per bottle)
St Aubin offers some of the best value in the Cote du Beaune and this really punches above it weight. Great vintage – the 2017s are showing very well now. A bottle or two of this would make an ideal starter for christmas lunch.

Terra Vita Vinum Rogeries Anjou Blanc 2018, Loire Valley
£23.35 per bottle inc VAT (was £25.95)
100% Chenin Blanc from a organically farmed vineyard. Full bodied and broad, like a Meursault perhaps, but without any oak, Chenin’s acidity balances the power and gives lift and energy. Grows wonderfully in the glass developing complex fruit and mineral notes. A fantastic wine, Robert’s favourite from Terra Vita Vinum. Winemaker Bénédicte recommends this with Scallops or Sushi.

Domaine Michel Caillot Meursault 2014, Burgundy
£29.95 per bottle inc VAT (Was £34.95 per bottle)
This 2014, from the best white Burgundy vintage of the decade, was aged for one year in barrel, then two further years in tank. This extended lees ageing before bottling allows Caillot’s wines to develop their deep, savoury and complex characters. This is a singular Meursault with notes of preserved lemon, hazelnut and wood smoke.

Domaine Sylvain Langoureau Chassagne-Montrachet Les Perclos 2017, Burgundy
£34.95 per bottle inc VAT (Was £38.95)
A vineyard in the heart of Chassagne – where deep clay over limestone gives a wine which contrasts rich, almost silky fruit with saline freshness. Sylvain’s domaine is now fully organic; they let grass grow between the rows in Perclos to force the vines roots deeper into the bedrock. The combination of ripe stone fruit and notes of hazelnut and white flower is delicious – this would make a great match for smoked salmon.

Domaine Cholet-Pelletier Puligny Montrachet les Enseignères 2017, Burgundy
£44.95 per bottle inc VAT (Was £49.95)
Florence Cholet is a winemaker to watch – having returned from working abroad she is putting her small domaine on the map. This is their top wine – 85-year-old vines growing in a vineyard just below the Grand Cru Batard-Montrachet. You can see some of that site’s famous muscle, there is a deep core of flavour, but Puligny’s racy side is here too in its lifted stone fruit and peach perfume.

Reds
Domaine Santa Duc Gigondas Les Lieux Dits 2014, Rhone Valley
£17.95 per bottle inc VAT (Was £22.95 per bottle)
A blend of sites from around Gigondas at different altitudes Now drinking at its peak, the 2014 Lieux Dits is such a satisfying wine, with red currant and strawberry fruit, wood smoke and rich spice flavours leading to a rich, complex palate.

Chateau d’Aydie Madiran 2011, South West France
£19.40 per bottle inc VAT (Was £22.95 per bottle)
Made entirely from Tannat, the local variety known for its longevity. 2011 was a tremendous vintage here. Wild hedge row fruit and a beautifully integrated palate with a complex finish of mulberry, leather, wood smoke and sweet spices– this wine is singing now and would be magnificent with lamb.

Domaine Rodolphe Demougeot Savigny les Beaune les Bourgeots 2015, Burgundy
£25.95 per bottle inc VAT (Was £28.95 per bottle)
Rodolphe’s wines are marked by their elegance and perfume, and this Savigny, form a vineyard with alluvial stones from the nearby river Rhoin, is a great example of his style. Filigree tannins, layers of fruit and sous bois flavours, and a long, perfumed finish. A balanced, harmonious wine which would work with duck or pheasant.

Chateau Capbern 2015, St Estephe, Bordeaux
£29.65 per bottle inc VAT (Was £32.95)
Fantastic Cru Bourgeois from St Estephe, where clay soil lends freshness and balance to make elegant and finely structured wines. Made by the Calon Segur team who have mastered a classy balance of oak and cabernet sauvignon fruit. Best after an hour in a decanter. Absolutely perfect with roast lamb or beef.

Domaine Joseph Roty Marsannay Rouge 2014, Burgundy
£29.90 per bottle inc VAT (Was £33.25 per bottle)
Roty were Marsannay early adopters – Joe Roty saw the quality of the land and began buying vineyards in the 1980s. As was his policy in Gevrey he bought good sites with old vines and the wisdom of his strategy is clear when we taste the quality of the wines today. The 2014 is drinking well – with a little age these wines develop wonderful aromatics with the characteristic pinot noir flavours of black cherry and stone fruit. A great choice for turkey or goose.

Domaine Hubert Lignier Morey-St-Denis Tres Girard 2014
£44.95 per bottle inc VAT (Was £48.95 per bottle)
Laurent Lignier has been producing exceptional wines for a number of years. His 2014s are classical and fine, not big wines but well balanced, complex and utterly delicious. The Tres Girard 2014, from vines planted in the 70s, is a case in point. Laurent says it always gives a softer, elegant style or Morey with very fine tannins and is often mistaken for a Chambolle. With its ripe heart of sweet fruit and great length it is an elegant, red fruited Morey-St-Denis from a classic year. Another wine which would be perfect on the Christmas lunch table. A cracker!
