Description
South-east facing sloped vineyard, the Dubreuil vines are at the top of the slope. A thin layer of clay covers the limestone. Aged for 12 months in barrel, 20% new. 2016 was hit by terrible frosts, lowering yields and producing concentrated wines. The 2016 Sous Frétille shows a generous, ripe mid palate is balanced by a fresh, limestone influenced finish with a little grip.
About the Domaine
Domaine Dubreuil Fontaine is now run by Christine Gruère-Dubreuil, one of the leading female winemakers in the Cote D’Or. Her wines are fine-boned, elegant, and delightfully pure. This family domaine was established in 1879, and its 20 hectares cover holdings in 6 villages of the Côte de Beaune, including a Monopole within Pernand Vergelesses. The 2016 reds show the vintage’s low yields in their concentration but have not lost Christine’s hallmark elegance or freshness; they are refined, mineral wines that will age well.
