Description
This wine is a blend of 95% Sangiovese and 5% Colorino. The fermentation process usually lasts for 20 days, at a controlled temperature, in open air tanks, before spending 12 months in a mix of concrete and large wooden casks. Classical nose of dark cherry, cranberry, exotic spice and a little mint. The palate carries on the dark fruit, supported by refreshing acidity and fine tannins. There’s concentration, but restraint, and an invigorating juicy crunch on the finish. This is a versatile wine perfect for food, Lamb or Pork, or tomato sauces, a rich Ragu perhaps, dishes which will appreciate the wines freshness and cut. It’s really a beautiful, unforced expression of Sangiovese, and an exceptionally versatile and useful bottle to have in the rack.
Silvia says
“Chianti for me should always show a great clarity with an element of serious backbone. This Chianti shows this exactly. A great purity of sour cherry fruit which is very direct on the palate that seems a tad tart initially but broadens beautifully by the time it reaches you mid palate. Acidity is bright and creates the prettiness in the wine.”
The 2018 Chianti Classico is bright, juicy and super-expressive, all in a mid-weight style that offers quite a bit of immediacy and appeal. Red Sangiovese fruit, floral accents and lively acids give the 2018 energy and a real sense of Sangiovese vibrancy. This is very nicely done.
