Description
A blend of 95% Cannonau& 5% Muristellu, growing on decomposed granite soil. Fermentation takes place in steel vats at a controlled temperature of 26 ° C for around 12 to 15 days. The wine is put through malolactic fermentation and is then left to mature for a further 8 months in steel tank. Cannanou is related to Grenache, and in its silky raspberry and plum fruit one can see the resemblance. There’s a sense of purity and freshness here, nicely textured, with sweet dark fruit and a slightly wild, hedgerow aspect. Elegant and defined, I was really impressed by the balance here, the ripe fruit is perfectly judged, the acidity well integrated. This will be perfect as the nights get earlier and temperatures cool. A fine match for lighter game.

“My fondness for this wine not only comes from memories of the beautiful Island of Sardinia. The rustic nature of the Cannonau varietal is extremely pleasing to my palate. A good abundance of juicy fruit is always backed by a slight meaty quality that is ideal for that Sunday Roast”
“The 2019 Cannonau di Sardegna Lillove is lively and fresh, wafting up a display of strawberries, peppery herbs and sweet florals. It’s fleshy in feel with a pronounced inner sweetness, showing red and blue fruits that are well balanced by juicy acidity. Inner violet notes linger over a twang of candied citrus, making for a fully satisfying finale. There’s no reason to overthink this ripe and vibrant Cannonau. Simply enjoy it.”
