The Dupre family, Alain & Catherine, can trace their roots in Chablis back generations. In 2019 they took the decision, spurred by the return of their children Valentin & Amandine to the domaine, to withdraw completely from the local co-operative and begin to bottle all of their wine under their own name. We are very pleased they did, and are proud to be bringing the wines to the UK for the first time.
Domaine Dupre can be found in Courgis, a few miles southwest of Chablis itself. The family farm 16ha, which is certified to HEV3, everything is done to protect the soils and the vines, no pesticides or herbicides are allowed, and hedges and wild-flowers have been planted to encourage biodiversity. The family’s philosophy is two-fold; to minimise the impact of their farming on the environment and to produce the finest quality fruit possible. The winery has been completely rebuilt in the last few years. All fermentations take place with natural yeasts, while the wines ferment and age in stainless steel, which winemaker Valentin feels gives the purest expression of terroir.
We were immediately taken with the purity of fruit here- Valentin is a young man with a classical palate, and these are beautifully delineated wines which simply couldn’t come from anywhere but Chablis. Bravo!
Current Vintages
White Wines | Vintage |

Chablis [Read More] Vines average 40-years-old, planted at 6000 vines per ha. A single vineyard in Corgis. Natural fermentation followed by malolactic. Ageing in stainless steel on fine lees for 12 months. Crisply ripe orchard fruit with tension and citrus acidity on the palate, before a mineral finish which is the hallmark of good Chablis. | 2020 |
Chablis Vieilles Vignes [Read More] Very high quality Kimmeridgien clay in these plots, with little soil above. 50-70-year old vines. Natural fermentation followed by malolactic. Ageing in stainless steel on fine lees for 12 months. Real intensity here. The old vines with their deep roots bring a sense of the soil, the wines chalky structure supporting it's concentration and long, detailed finish. | 2020 |
Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux [Read More] This is the south-western part of Montmains and is often bottled as that more famous vineyard. But with growers such as Raveneau and Louis Michel bottling it separately it is building a reputation for wines which combine power and breadth with minerality. A high proportion of white clay sets it apart from Montmains proper. The Dupre’s call it a full bodied wine with great length of flavour. It is made from 40-year-old vines. Natural fermentation followed by malolactic. Ageing in stainless steel on fine lees for 18 months. The jump to 1er Cru is clear- we have more weight and intensity, yet also a tension which gives life to the whole, delivering the extra concentration with no additional heaviness. Zippy, chalky, super notes of apple and cool citrus. This is a delicious Chablis. | 2020 |
