Domaine DUBREUIL FONTAINE

Pernand-Vergelesses

Domaine Dubreuil Fontaine is now run by Christine Gruère-Dubreuil, one of the leading female winemakers in the Cote D’Or. Her wines are fine-boned, elegant, and delightfully pure.

Background

This family domaine was established in 1879, and its 20 hectares cover holdings in 6 villages of the Côte de Beaune, including a Monopole within Pernand Vergelesses. The domaine is now run by Christine Gruère-Dubreuil, one of the leading female winemakers in the Cote D’Or.  Her wines are fine-boned, elegant, and delightfully old fashioned and non-interventionist. The soon to arrive 2016 reds show the vintage’s low yields in their concentration but have not lost Christine’s hallmark elegance or freshness; they are refined, mineral wines that will age well.

Pernand-Vergelesses Rouge2018
50% 1er Cru grapes here, from Les Luret. Refined, cool and airy red fruits with round, fine tannins, concentrated but light on its feet. Super wine and one can sense the fruit quality in its purity and expression. Great value for the quality.

Corton Bressandes Grand Cru2016
Christine’s Clos du Roi is the opposite of masculine, burly Corton. The structure is here but the fruit balances the grip and fans back out on the finish leaving one with a sense of cherry stone and raspberry. A very fine, regal, wine.
