Over the years Peter Vinding-Diers has established a reputation as a gifted winemaker in both Bordeaux and South Africa.  He has now based himself in his beloved Sicily at Montecarrubo in the south east of the island, within sight of Mount Etna. Since 2007 he has been making Syrah from leased vineyards nearby whilst waiting for production from his own remarkable site to be released in a few years with the 2012 vintage.  Watch this space as we develop a profile of the Domaine and the evolution of his first vintage.

Meanwhile I highly recommend Peter’s 2008 Montecarrubo Syrah which has a vibrant northern Rhone style, very classical in all aspects with a telling wild herb and dark fruit mid-palate.  It is also refreshingly moderate in alcohol at 13.5%.
